USDA Signs Cooperative Agreements with North Carolina to Promote Economic Opportunities for Farmers and Producers, Expand Local Foods in School Meals

U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Mae Wu was joined by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services Chief Deputy Commissioner David Smith in Durham, N.C., to announce the signing of cooperative agreements between USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service and state under the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program and the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program.

USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture Awards New Grant to Support NC Farm to School Online Training Initiative

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture has awarded a two year, $219,458 grant to North Carolina Extension/North Carolina State University and the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) to expand our online farm to school course into a Farm to School Collaborative Training Initiative (NCF2SCTI).

New NC Crunch 2022 Resources!

This October, join schools, child care centers, and organizations across North Carolina in celebrating National Farm to School Month by crunching into locally grown produce. The 2022 NC Crunch will take place on Wednesday, October 19th. Participants of all ages are invited to crunch with us!
