2017-2019 USDA Farm to School Grant Recipient in NC
Congratulations to the Beaufort County Board of Education in Washington, North Carolina for being awarded an implementation grant from USDA for Farm to School starting in October 2017.
44 applications were received by USDA nationally and 17 were awarded.

NFSN Awards Core and Supporting Partnership grant to North Carolina
The Center for Environmental Farming Systems, serving as North Carolina’s Core Partner together with the the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project, the NC Department of Public Instruction, the Department of Health and Human Services and the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (as Supporting Partners) were notified in mid-February 2017 that their application to the National Farm to School Network had been accepted and awarded.

Big Things are Happening for Little Kids in Hot Springs
A tree house, a mud kitchen, an edible garden, a big stage (as well as a small one, for those not quite ready for prime time)…and did I mention a garden? The sweetest little garden which included a table and chairs for chatting or eating, and a bug hotel. Yes, a bug hotel!
